| Pack 63 Needs Your Help!
All Committee Members and Pack Leaders attend the monthly Pack Committee & Leaders meetings, usually held the 1st Monday of every month at First Presbyterian Church in Wheaton.

Position Descriptions
Pack Committee
Committee Chair – Time commitment 4 – 5 hours p/month. This person chairs the monthly Pack Committee & Leaders meetings. Monthly agendas are created to follow the monthly activities and support of the Den Leaders and their activities. Agendas and monthly activities are usually recycled from year to year with some changes as needed. Responsible for the content and publishing the Pack’s monthly newsletter. This person is responsible for recruiting volunteers to staff the various Pack events, like Blue & Gold dinner, Scouting for Food, etc. and is responsible for oversight of the Pack Committee which consists of the following positions: Treasurer, Secretary, Advancement Coordinator and Web Master. This person is the liaison between the Council and the Committee, and communicates important information regarding the Cub Scout program. This person also communicates with the Church representative to book meeting rooms and events. In addition, this person is responsible for the re-chartering of Cub Scouts and volunteer leaders on a yearly basis. This person works closely with the Cubmaster.
Treasurer – Time commitment 2 hours p/month. Reports to Committee Chair. This person is responsible for the payables and receivables of the Pack. Incoming money includes popcorn proceeds, Scout registration and non-Scout fees for outside events. Outgoing money includes Pack and Den expenses, Blue & Gold Dinner, Pack outings, etc. This person is the liaison between the Pack and the bank, and receives and balances monthly statements. This person reports incoming and outgoing expenses at the monthly Committee meetings for publication in the monthly minutes.
Advancement Coordinator – Time commitment 1 hour p/month. Reports to Committee Chair. This person is responsible for taking segment and advancement requests from all Den leaders. The Advancement Coordinator then completes the necessary paperwork and takes the requests to the Scout Shop in West Chicago and purchases the required segments and/or patches. This person also purchases neckerchiefs and books for advancement ceremonies.
Secretary – Time commitment 1 - 2 hours p/month. Reports to Committee Chair. This person is responsible for taking minutes at the monthly Committee meetings, typing them, and distributing them at the following Committee meeting. An electronic version of the minutes is also sent to the Web Master to post on Pack 63’s website.
Training Chair – Time commitment 1 - 2 hours p/month. Reports to Committee Chair. Responsible for getting new leaders trained and keeping track of the Pack 63 training records and advancements records for all scouts.
Web Master/Communications – Time commitment 2 - 3 hours p/month. Reports to Committee Chair. This person is responsible for maintaining Pack 63’s web page and updating it with current and upcoming events. The web page is an essential communications tool for the entire Pack.
Pack Leaders
Cubmaster – Time commitment 5 – 6 hours p/month. This person is responsible for ensuring the Pack is following the Cub Scout program. Leads the Pack’s recruiting program. All Den Leaders report to Cubmaster. He/She is the “Master of Ceremonies” at all Pack meetings and events. This person is responsible for creating a Pack outline (utilizing Committee meeting events) and the verbal execution of the agenda. Outlines and agendas are usually recycled from year to year, with some tweaking from the Cubmaster to add his personal flavor. Contributes to Pack newsletter. This person works closely with the Committee Chairperson.
Assistant Cubmaster – Time commitment 2 hours p/month. Reports to Cubmaster. This person assists the Cub Master on Pack initiatives and at all Pack meetings and events. He/She fills in for the Cubmaster in the event of his absence.
Pack Trainer – Time commitment 2 hours p/month. Reports to Cubmaster. This person is responsible for ensuring that the Pack Leaders are completing the required training programs for their position. Keeps accurate and timely training records. Assists new leaders with course selection and conducts orientation of new families and Pack Leaders.
Den Leaders – Time commitment 5 - 7 hours p/month. Reports to Cubmaster. These people are the glue that holds the Dens together. They organize and coordinate rank specific curriculums and advancement activities in accordance with the applicable handbook (Tigers, Wolves, etc.). They communicate with their Scout parents relating to all Den and Pack events.
Assistant Den Leaders – Time commitment 3 – 4 hours p/month. Reports to Den Leader. This person assists the Den Leader at all Den meetings and events. He/She fills in for the Den Leader in the event of his/her absence.
